Sports and Life: The Difference
Between Good and Great

Dr. Donna Lopiano, President of Sports Management Resources and Former CEO of the Women's Sports Foundation, was featured at the February 11, 2010 Event.

1.
Nothing beats the experience of being physically powerful, able to physically do the things you want to do.
2.
Sports helps you understand the separation between performance and self-worth. So you had a bad practice or bad game; you're still a valuable member of this team.
3.
You must believe in perfection. It is attainable, even if it's just one perfect shot in a round of 18 holes of golf.
4.
Accept blame for your actions and decisions. Look inward for realistic self-criticism and congratulations for performance.
5.
Sports builds loyalty to teammates and networking skills.
6.
Repetition is the key to performance excellence -- in sports and in life.
7.
"I will = I can." Always take another step, no matter how tired you are.
8.
Concentrate!
9.
Be a student of the game.
10.
Practice the illusion of confidence.
11.
Encourage every girl to find her sport.
