What better way to warm up this winter than with a good
book? Actually, there is one better way…to warm up with a
romance novel! Before you scoff at the idea, this romance
novel is on the top of the list for creating warm fuzzies
inside.

Season, by Linda Howard, takes place in Alabama. The protagonist,
Daisy Minor, is the town's librarian ready to make some major
changes in her life. On her 34th birthday, she wakes up and
sheepishly declares to her mother and her aunt (her roommates!)
that she needs a fashion makeover and a new life. They couldn't
agree more and help Daisy with her transformation.
Enter Jack, the new police chief in town. Jack and Daisy's
paths cross various times at the beginning of the novel, and
it's safe to say they get off on the wrong foot. He knows
she is something special, but Daisy, unfamiliar with the attention
her new makeover is receiving, feels a bit uncomfortable around
this "Yankee" gentleman.
While working on his current assignment of investigating
the use of the date rape drug, GHB, at local nightclubs, Daisy,
always in the wrong place at the wrong time, "accidentally"
starts a brawl at one of these clubs. But it gets worse! She
witnesses something that she shouldn't have, and has to be
under constant police protection by none other than the drop-dead
gorgeous Jack. Their relationship grows into something quite
spectacular, and there are many varying degrees of fireworks,
not just the romantic kind!
Linda Howard is a terrific romance/suspense writer. She has
the unique ability to create dramatic scenes, yet sprinkles
her novels with quite a bit of humor. The characters leap
off of the page, due to her excellent ability to write dialogue.
Unfortunately, these writing talents make for a quick read,
which is upsetting when all you want to do is savor the story.
This book has everything - it's sweet, romantic, steamy,
and will warm your insides this winter.
